Eaon vs Windsurf (now Devin Desktop)

Eaon and Windsurf

Windsurf became Devin Desktop in June 2026. Eaon is a free, open-source place to run Claude Code, Codex and other agents side by side.

In short

Windsurf was renamed Devin Desktop on 2 June 2026. It is a VS Code-derived editor by Cognition with an agent command center that runs its own agents and, on paid plans, ACP agents such as Claude Agent, Codex and Gemini CLI, with a one-click handoff to Devin's cloud. Plans run from free to $200 a month.

Eaon is free and open source, and its ADE runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity and Eaon's agents in real terminals, each on its own branch, with no plan needed. It isn't an editor, and it has no cloud agents; it does have local models and an everyday AI chat.
