Eaon vs Cursor

Eaon and Cursor

Cursor is an editor with its own agent. Eaon runs the agents you already pay for, side by side, and works next to whatever editor you like.

In short

Cursor is a full VS Code-based editor with its own agent, an Agents Window for parallel local and cloud agents, Bugbot pull request review, automations, and apps on the web and iOS. It runs only Cursor's agent, on a plan from $20 a month, and it is proprietary.

Eaon is free and open source, and runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity and Eaon's own agents together, each on its own branch, using your own logins. It isn't an editor, so many people use it alongside one. Cursor does more in the cloud and on your phone; Eaon adds local models and an everyday AI chat.

Questions

Can I use Cursor and Eaon together?

Yes. Eaon isn't an editor, so keep Cursor for reading and writing code and use Eaon's ADE to run several agents at once, each on its own git branch.

Is Eaon really free?

Yes. Eaon is free and open source under GPL-3.0, with no account and no subscription. You pay your model providers directly, or nothing at all with local models.
